Marina Sign Project Stage Planner
This planner starts with the date pieces must reach your harbor office or clubhouse and gives each stage a date in reverse: receiving, transit, production and proof. Harbor Plaque Co reads the plan as a starting point for discussion, not a booking. At clubs, the slow step is often a board or committee that meets only now and then.
Build your plan
Work backwards from arrival using your entered stage durations. Weekends are skipped; holidays and closures require extra allowance. Dates describe a plan, not reserved production capacity.
The decision behind a marina slip-sign order
The berth reference stays with the slip while the vessel name may change. Keep those schedules separate. Describe water exposure, mounting surface and maintenance methods when requesting a material recommendation, and distinguish small close-range slip plates from larger directional signs.
Keep with your brief: Slip sequence, vessel wording where applicable, mounting and exposure.

Begin proof review = required arrival minus all entered stage allowances, counting weekdays only
Use the first date as a prompt to have a complete brief and an available approver. It is not a reason to start irreversible work with missing measurements. If the dates are impractical, discuss a simpler format, a different presentation plan or revised timing before authorizing the order.
How would a marina plan signs and a dedication together?
A marina is opening a new dock named The Lee Dock and needs both slip signs and a Dock Dedication Plaque. The general manager runs the planner twice. The slip signs need only her approval, so the proof allowance is short. The dedication needs the Lee family and the marina owners to agree the wording, so she gives it a much longer proof stage. The plaque sets the pace. She sends both plans to Harbor Plaque Co and asks for the slip signs to ship first so they can be fitted before the opening.
Check these details before using the result
- Same proof time for every piece
- A slip sign needs one approver; a dedication may need a family and a board. Give each its own proof allowance.
- Missing the board meeting date
- If a club board must approve wording, find its next meeting date and plan the proof stage around it.
- Assuming the plan books production
- Planned dates hold no slot. Send them with your quote request, and the written quote confirms the production start.

Dock and Boat Nameplate
Decide which information stays with the berth and which follows the boat. Keep replaceable vessel details separate from permanent slip identification, and specify the actual splash, sun and mounting exposure before choosing a finish.

Custom Boat Nameplate
Describe the installation location and whether the piece is decorative or intended to satisfy a particular marking requirement. Provide any applicable specification separately; a nameplate design does not establish registration compliance.

When is the staged planner more useful than the arrival date tool?
When several groups approve in turn. The staged plan gives each step a date, which a manager can send to a family, a board and staff. The arrival date tool gives one answer, the last day to order.
What happens if the dedication wording is approved late?
Every later stage moves, since production starts from the approved proof. Enter the new approval date to see the effect. If the opening is at risk, ask us about rush production, and the quote will show whether it closes the gap.

All buying guidesGive the berth a stable location identity and the vessel its approved personal name, then decide which physical pieces should change when occupancy changes.
A maker-side layout guide with character counts and letter-height planning, plus a plain summary of the federal name and hailing port marking rules for documented vessels cited to 46 CFR Part 67, stating clearly that a Harbor Plaque Co decorative plaque is not a substitute for required markings.
Count complete two-sided direction-sign assemblies for the order, then maintain a separate face schedule for wording and orientation approval.
Keep fixed berth identity separate from boat names and temporary marina information. Approve the location, reading direction and mounting for each sign, then group the order by dock or vessel. Recognition awards and commemorative pieces need their own presentation schedule.
